Sprinting into Spring! ~
Q and A - with - Dos Gringos
Q: It sounds like the races is on?
A: That is very true. We are sprinting into spring with big floral shipping weeks back to back – Easter/Passover, Administrative Professional’s Day and…the really big show…Mother’s Day. Our teams are hard at work preparing.
Q: What exactly are they doing? A: Everything, everywhere and all the time for the next few months. It truly is a team effort to get all of our flowers and greens harvested, hydrated, transported to our grading and assembly facilities, made into bouquets, packed, pre-cooled and shipped out the door in record time. We have featured some of our departments who discuss their portion of the big picture.
Todd Thornton, Our Master Grower Reports:
I am working hard to complete our spring crops which I have been working on since July 2018. Our Sunflowers, Ranunculus, Canterbury Bells, Gypsy Dianthus, and Larkspur (even after a very challenging winter of rain and dark weather) are really looking good going into the Spring Sprint. Our selection of microclimate and variety choices have paid off and crops are on time. Our spring crops are in full swing and all that is needed is it to be carefully harvested and sent out to satisfy our customers.
Our Ranunculus are ready for the final sprint!

Delia Mercado, H.R. Manager Reports:
Since January, the HR Team has prepared for “The Spring Sprint” with our core team of 300 team members from our two grading, assembly, and packing facilities in California and Mexico. An additional 50 employees have been recruited to ensure coverage for the high demand in production for the chain of upcoming holidays. Our team is geared with the tools they need and will focus on cross-training in various areas to insure support from all departments. As “team mom”, I make myself accessible to support our team whenever the need arises. In addition, snacks and dinners are planned out for the long days to keep everyone fueled, happy, and healthy. Here at DG, we are a strong, prepared and committed to bring smiles to millions and we have the pictures to prove it!
