Q: So glad you asked!

A: July brings a great deal of planning and planting. As you know, the fall
season is our busiest time of the year. Our Sunflowers take center stage
so we are planting like crazy to insure an abundant fall harvest.

Q: You mentioned planning and planting quite a bit.
Why is that so important?

 A:  The days of throwing a bunch of seed in the ground and selling them the day
before you harvest them are over. We are at a point in our industry where the
margin for error is very slim. We rely on quite a bit of data to insure we plant the
correct varieties for the right weeks. We tabulate reports from years past, reach
out to all our clients, and huddle up as a team to come up with the most
comprehensive weekly planting plan for fall.

Q: How is that going?

A: So far so good. (Please be nice to us this summer, Ms. Mother Nature!) Here

We are constantly testing seed to improve our current Sunflower
Varieties. These are all the Sunbeam varieties. Believe it or not
these are all different varieties of our green center sunflowers
(here’s a hint, you can tell by the petal structure.)
